**Salinas / Monterey County, CA** **Part-time or Full-time | Small Base + Commission** KRML is looking for someone who likes local businesses, likes people, and believes advertising should actually work. We’re an independent, locally owned radio station serving the Monterey Bay (Salinas, Santa Cruz and Monterey). Our job is pretty simple: **deliver measurable value to the local businesses that trust us with their advertising dollars and deliver great, human-curated music to our listeners.** We’re looking for a sales and community partnerships person to help us grow our presence in **Salinas and the Salinas Valley**. ## The job You’ll meet face-to-face with local business owners and marketing leaders, learn what they’re trying to accomplish, and help create KRML advertising and promotional programs that can actually move the needle. That might mean: * Radio advertising * Streaming and digital campaigns * Sponsorships * Events and community partnerships * Promotions and giveaways * Creative ideas we haven't thought of yet We don't want to sell people a pile of 30-second spots and wish them luck. We want to understand the advertiser's goal — more customers, more reservations, more awareness, more traffic, a successful event — and then build something that gives them a reasonable chance of seeing a return on their investment. And then we want to **ask whether it worked.** ## Who we're looking for You might have experience in media sales. You might not. We're more interested in someone who: * Knows and loves the Salinas community * Is comfortable walking into a local business and starting a conversation * Listens before pitching * Is curious about how businesses actually make money * Can build long-term relationships rather than chase one-time transactions * Is organized enough to follow up * Is comfortable being accountable for results * Has a sense of humor and doesn't take themselves too seriously Spanish-language ability would be wonderful. ## Compensation This is an entrepreneurial sales role with a **small base plus commission**. Successful sellers should make substantially more from commission than from the base. We'd rather reward someone generously for creating happy, renewing advertisers than build a large fixed-cost sales organization. ## About KRML KRML is a locally owned Monterey Bay radio station built around a slightly old-fashioned idea: Real people choose our music. Real people talk with our listeners. And we want real relationships with the businesses that support the station. We're trying to build something that is good for listeners, good for local businesses, and good for the communities we serve.
