Job Title: Director of Marketing & Engagement Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Status: Full-time employment Anticipated Start Date: August 3, 2026 Position Overview The Director of Marketing & Engagement advances ACBA’s visibility, narrative, and long-term impact by bridging external communications and internal operations. This role serves as the primary liaison to ACBA’s contracted social media and marketing partners, ensuring that the College’s work is represented accurately, thoughtfully, and in alignment with its mission. The Director also leads alumni engagement and graduate outcomes tracking, supporting both community connection and institutional accreditation requirements. The ideal candidate understands that this role is equal parts storytelling, coordination, and mission-driven communication. Key Responsibilities Marketing and Institutional Communications Serve as primary liaison for ACBA’s contracted social media and PR partners Coordinate content development, approvals, and brand alignment Provide original content, context, and institutional insight to social media and PR partners Identify students, faculty, and projects to feature in campaigns Ensure accuracy of all public-facing messaging, including graduate outcomes Manage website updates and maintain current institutional messaging Track press mentions and digital performance for reporting Alumni Engagement & Graduate Outcomes Launch and maintain an alumni database Plan and execute alumni engagement initiatives and events Collect and verify graduate employment data in accordance with ACCSC standards (seasonal reporting cycles) Maintain organized graduate employment records and documentation Track post-graduation job placement Visitor & Community Engagement Represent ACBA at select community events Give campus tours to prospective students and guests Support lecture series logistics and other institutional programming Occasional evening or weekend availability and limited travel may be required for events and outreach activities Operational Support Coordinate onboarding documentation for new employees Maintain employee files and compliance records Support updates to institutional policies and emergency planning Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field 3+ years experience in marketing, communications, alumni relations, or similar roles Experience coordinating with external vendors or contractors Familiarity with social media platforms and marketing content workflows Strong organizational and project management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in small college environment Strongly Preferred Demonstrated interest in historic preservation, architecture, craft, or the built environment Experience in mission-driven, educational, or cultural institutions Who Thrives in This Role We are seeking someone who: Has a genuine interest in historic preservation, traditional building arts, or architecture Is naturally enthusiastic and able to speak confidently about ACBA's mission Communicates clearly, proactively, and professionally Demonstrates initiative and thoughtful problem-solving Is comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small college environment Can thoughtfully represent the College to external audiences Job Type: Full-time Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year Benefits: Dental insurance Flexible schedule Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Ability to Commute: Charleston, SC 29403 (Required) Ability to Relocate: Charleston, SC 29403: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
