Orange Approved Supervisor Erin Berthon Supervisor Email berthon@chapman.edu Scheduling Please use dates within Chapman Academic Calendar () Desired Start Date 10/12/2026 Projected End Date 05/23/2027 Average number of hours per week Up to 10 Hrs Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Under the direction of the Wilkinson College Dean’s Office, the Student Social Media Assistant will support the college’s social media and digital communication efforts. The student will assist with creating, scheduling, and publishing content; promoting college events and initiatives; monitoring engagement; and helping develop social media campaigns designed to connect with current students, prospective students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the broader Wilkinson community. This position offers hands-on experience in social media marketing, content creation, digital communications, event promotion, and audience engagement. The student will work closely with members of the Dean’s Office to help strengthen Wilkinson College’s social media presence and brand. **Freshman and sophomore students are especially encouraged to apply**, as this position provides an opportunity to be mentored by experienced junior- and senior-level student designers currently working with the Dean’s Office. Responsibilities * Assist with managing Wilkinson College social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Blue Sky, and LinkedIn. * Create and edit social media content, including graphics, captions, stories, reels, photos, and short-form video. * Schedule and publish content using Postpone.com and maintain an organized social media calendar. * Monitor the social media group email and route requests to the appropriate team member. * Promote Wilkinson College events, programs, student opportunities, faculty accomplishments, alumni stories, and other college initiatives. * Assist with developing social media campaigns designed to increase awareness, followers, reach, and engagement. * Review social media analytics and identify trends and opportunities to improve content performance. * Monitor comments and direct messages and assist with responses when appropriate. * Provide live or same-day social media coverage during selected college events. * Cross-promote relevant events and initiatives from Wilkinson departments, programs, and university partners. * Collaborate with Dean’s Office staff and other student workers on social media and marketing projects. * Assist with additional communications and marketing projects as assigned. Required Qualifications * Strong writing, editing, and communication skills. * Professional, dependable, organized, and able to meet deadlines. * Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, and current social media trends. * Interest in social media, marketing, communications, content creation, or digital storytelling. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. * Ability to manage multiple assignments and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. * Willingness to learn and follow Chapman University brand standards and marketing guidelines. Desired Qualifications * Experience creating social media content for a club, organization, business, or personal brand. * Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, PostPone.com, or similar platforms. * Experience with photography, video editing, Reels, or short-form video content. * Students studying Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, English, Graphic Design, Film/Media, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
