We are seeking a leader who can create a vision, formulate a strategy, and bring it to life with strong operational capabilities. This position is responsible for all facets of the organization’s marketing and communications department and has direct responsibility for the execution of a marketing, communications, and events strategy to help EDCUtah achieve its revenue and program goals. You might be a good fit if you are: ● A leader who combines strategy and execution and is always two steps ahead – in team leadership, onboarding resources, campaign management, and shifts in audience sentiment. ● A customer-centric marketer and communications professional who focuses on how to meaningfully engage current and future clients and investors. ● An outcome-oriented team member who ensures that achieving and exceeding key performance indicators is at the forefront of everything we do. ● A storyteller-in-chief who can amplify the brand, the internal stories, and the magic that differentiates the organization and gives us an advantage in the hearts and minds of our clients and investors. How this job supports EDCUtah’s Mission: The director of marketing & communications will play an essential role in communicating the “why” behind EDCUtah’s vision and mission to its target audiences. This position will develop and deploy strategic marketing and communications plans to support economic competitiveness initiatives and strategic partnerships aimed at ensuring Utah’s sustainable growth and prosperity. Primary Duties ● Create and execute a strategic annual marketing plan and long-term strategy that helps the overall organization achieve its goals. ● Own, evolve, and sharpen the Team Utah brand, messaging, and positioning in the market. ● Develop and deploy marketing plans to support EDCUtah’s strategic partnerships and economic competitiveness initiatives. ● Foster a customer-centric approach to marketing and ensure ideal audience segments and personas are engaged with the right messaging at the right time in the right format through the right channel. ● Execute and manage our team to produce compelling, customer-centric events and content for EDCUtah’s audience segments. This includes content and events for attracting and retaining investors; content and events to promote business recruitment and retention in the state of Utah; as well as positioning and promoting the data, research, and content produced by our research team. ● Orchestrate the brand design and messaging across all channels and functions of EDCUtah. ● Utilize data, insights, and analytics to measure the impact of marketing programs and strive to continuously improve impact. ● Act as both architect and steward of the brand by creating and telling brand stories and inviting audience stakeholders to participate in the narrative. ● Work collaboratively across the business development, strategic partnerships, research, and community strategy teams to ensure we are aligning objectives across the organization and meeting the needs of our diverse audiences. ● Lead competitive intelligence and analysis to provide a clear view of the marketplace and our position and differentiation within it. ● Develop and craft PR strategies, pitch stories, write press releases, and responding to inquiries from journalists.
